Jose Gonzalez teaches courses in International Business, Financial Management and Entrepreneurship. He is particularly interested in Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development and Entrepreneurship. In fact, he is currently involved in an international economic development entrepreneurship project working with fair trade coffee and honey farmers in Chajul,Guatemala. He recently led a group of students to northern Guatemala, and his team of students is working with Asociacion Chajulense (www.asociacionchajulense.org) on micro-lending and other economic development endeavors.
Prior to coming to Belmont, Professor Gonzalez was the Executive Director of Conexión Américas (www.conexionamericas.org). Conexión Américas is a non-profit organization he co-founded in 2001 with the mission to promote the economic and social integration of Latino families into the local community. While at Conexión Américas he was responsible for launching several successful initiatives – a home ownership program, an entrepreneurship course for Latino immigrants, and a Financial Literacy curriculum– all initiatives with the ultimate goal of providing the Latino population with better tools and information to succeed in their integration process into the community.
